Mermaid Lagoon, 2009
Studio Work
As I have been researching contemporary artists who focus on wildlife preservation, technology, and human affects on the environment I have been inspired to paint based on my feelings of nostalgia for the Eastern Shore. Check out the artists I have been researching in the "Art Education" tab under "Contemporary Artist Research."

Most of my recent work is in acrylic and watercolor, I absolutely love painting in oil but only do so occasionally. I make my own oversized canvases and paint outdoors as much as possible. My inspiration often comes from the natural world but I am greatly inspired by the romanticism of the pre-Raphealites and the Victorian era. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from James Madison University and my concentration was in painting. Below are examples of my large oil paintings I completed during my time at JMU.
